Front loading washers include a control lock feature that temporarily disables use of the control panel and requires deactivating the lock prior to pausing the cleaning cycle. The lid switch is inside the control panel if the washer is not spinning or draining then the lid switch is the problem. Were you using a fresh hold cycle available on some models.
